"Lucy was found crying in the field below my parent’s house. She was so tiny and sick looking. Her eyes were scabbed up so bad she could not open them. I am sure she would have died if my brother had not found her and brought her home. I gave her a bath and started cleaning the scabbed area at her eyes. She was given some antibiotics and eyes-drops and eventually her eyes opened.
Unfortunately the damage was already done to her eyes. She is 100% blind in one eye and about 85% in the other eye the vet said. Despite her disability, Lucy manages to do many of the normal cat activities. She is very playful. I guess she can see better than we thought because she will chase your fingers around. Lucy is super lovable. She purrs so loud and her motor starts as soon as you pick her up. She is also litter box trained- which surprised me how well she took to it.
Even though she can hardly see, it does not stop her from exploring. She will find her way up the stairs and cry for help to get back down. This she quickly learned after tumbling down them the first time.
Lucy will make someone a great companion. She is a definite attention hog that wants to be loved. She does not do well around young playful kittens. They stress her out."
