ADOPTED!!! ADOPTED!!! Oakley: 2 Year Old Female Shepherd Mix

ADOPTED!!! ADOPTED!!!!
ADOPTED!!! ADOPTED!!!

Oakley desperately needs to get out of the shelter in Culpeper. Her time is running out. She's a 2 yr old female shepherd mix. The shelter will completely vet her (spay, all shots, test for heartworm, etc) if Oakley can find a foster or adoptive home! She's very sweet, shy, and excellent with kids. Please contact patty@werick.com if you can help this sweet girl.

I, Tanya, just received an email from Patty: (5/16/11 2 p.m.)

Keeping in mind that she is in a shelter and she only recently got up (for a long time she was so weak that she just layed there, not getting up to greet anyone or engaging at all)…she IS shy and timid…but if YOU were that emaciated and ill and in THAT prison, you would be scared too! The staff says that so far she has proved to be very easy going with other dogs and the cats. As she gains more confidence and heals MAYBE she won’t be so good…it’s impossible to say…but right now the staff say she is absolutely fine with other dogs and in the cat room she totally ignored the kitties. I suspect she will be very easy to train because of her breed mix, you look into her eyes and there is someone looking back. I just want to clarify so that there is complete transparency of information. She was brought in as a stray…so what can anyone really KNOW about her expect our intuition and gut feelings. Even though she has been neglected, she is still willing to give a little lick to your hand to say thanks. She will need someone that would enjoy nurturing her and watching her bloom into the dog she was SUPPOSE to be!
